Holy Youkilis

Someone said the word "Eucharist" recently and I heard "Youkilis." How hopeless is that?

Let's look at a picture of how awesome Kevin Youkilis is.

11 game lead over the last-place Yankees. All is well in the baseball world.

I grew up in Baltimore and went to college in Boston, so there is no love in my house for the Evil Empire. It is indeed a happy thing to see the Sox in this position. However, with the baseball establishment still ignoring steroids in the hope that they'll go away (Jason Giambi, yesterday ) and Bad Boy/overall sleazeball Barry Bonds within ten boomers of Hammerin' Hank, I just think it's a bit of an overstatement to say that "All's well in the baseball world".

If Bonds' homer record is given the same status as Aaron's, it will be a sad day, IMHO. If they do that, they should put Rose in the HOF.

Well yeah, all that stuff stinks, but... The Sox have an 11-game lead on the Yankees.

Sigh...I just can't help being cynical about baseball these days.

My brother who lives in Maine says there is some sort of Sox loyalty oath you have to sign to live in New England. He went to Fenway last year and saw the Sox beat the Twins. In the subway station after the game the people were all chanting "Yankees Suck!"...after a Twins game!
